Overview

Smoke is the signature of Schlenkerla, and the Erle Schwarzbier carries that tradition into darker territory — a deep, malty beer where the brewery's characteristic alderwood smoke meets the rounded body of a classic Schwarzbier.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, expect an immediate wave of smoke layered over roasted malt and a touch of caramel. The palate feels fuller than the 4.2% ABV suggests, finishing dry and lightly bitter with the smoke lingering well into the aftertaste.

Brewery

Schlenkerla has been brewing in the heart of Bamberg since 1405 and remains a global reference point for traditional smoked beer, still made using methods the Trum family has preserved for six generations.
