What is a West Coast IPA? A West Coast IPA is a clear, dry and fairly bitter IPA, with a strong hop aroma and little malt. It is a type of American IPA, paler in colour and drier than the older, maltier American IPA modelled on the British one.

An IPA that became the best-selling beer at Põhjala. For many drinkers, Virmalised is the first introduction to the Estonian brewery.
At 6.5% ABV, hops take centre stage in the glass. Expect hop aroma and a bitterness that shapes the finish, as you would look for in an IPA. The 330ml bottle is a good size for sipping slowly.
Virmalised accounts for more than a quarter of Põhjala's total production, which makes it the anchor of the range.
About the brewery
Põhjala is a brewery from Tallinn, Estonia, founded in late 2011 by four friends with a passion for food, beer and homebrewing. They are known for porters, imperial stouts, barrel ageing and beers made with ingredients from Estonian nature. Since 2018 they have brewed at Noblessner, a former shipyard by the sea.
